My take on Candy Cane:
I picked 2 shades of True color lipsticks from Sleek a couple of months back. This is the first time I have tried their lipsticks and these prove to be quite intense in color and moisturizing in nature.
Shade: Candy Cane is described as a sheen hot reddish pink on Sleek website. For me the shade is a bright hot pink with cool undertones. It is a bright and bold color and would suit fair to medium skin tones very well. The shade has a shine of its own so a gloss is not required.
Texture: Candy Cane is a very smooth in texture and goes on smoothly. It is pigmented enough and 2 swipes give an intense color as desired. I find the lipstick creamy and moisturizing to some extent so a lip balm can be skipped before applying this. The lipstick tends to settle in fine lines so better exfoliate the lips as the lipstick fades away evenly. As such the color does not bleed or feather while applying it. The shade is transferrable.
Longevity: The lip color stays on for 4 hours easily on me with a full meal in between. It survives a meal to quite an extent and a good tint is left behind which eliminates the need for a re-application.
Packaging: The lipstick comes in an oval shaped matte black encasing which holds the firm bullet inside. Though there is no color marking still the unique shape of the case and the clear paper color marking at the bottom makes it easy to identify the lipstick.
- Lovely bright pink color.
- Creamy and moisturizing.
- Sheen finish
- Good staying power.
- Cute packaging.
- Available only through sleek website.
- Shade may settle in lines so exfoliate the lips.
Dupe Alert: After I tried Candy Cane, I was really sure of the fact that I have a similar kind of shade in my lipstick stash. So I compared it with the other cool toned hot pinks I already own and to my surprise, Candy Cane is the closest dupe of MAC Impassioned that you may find. I even compared it with Inglot lipstick refill #10 but that shade is a little warm toned than Candy Cane while MAC Impassioned when swatched together looks exactly the same. Though one can’t much compare the texture but shade-wise, it is just ‘Impassioned’ for me ;).
Final Verdict: If you are looking for a nice bright pink with a moisturizing texture then Candy Cane is a good choice.
