Rimmel London Gentle Eye Make Up Remover Review

Rimmel London Gentle Eye Make Up Remover Review

By Priya

Hello Everyone,
I have love & hate relationship with budget makeup removers, my last one was by Revlon – the cream based one & it was horrible. Though I never gave the Maybelline Makeup remover a try as I don’t prefer the touch of oil on my skin and ultimately in affordable range I was left with 2 options – the Neturogena Eye Make Up Remover (which is seldom available) & Rimmel London Gentle Eye Make Up Remover.

Product Details:
Gently removes all eye make up, including long lasting and waterproof make up. No oily residue. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Dermatologically and Ophthalmologically tested.
Price: Rs. 375 for 125 ml

My Views:
If you are looking for oil free makeup removers within budget then let me tell you there are hardly any options available in the market, I have researched a lot and recently when Rimmel London launced in India, I had to give their oil free makeup remover a try. The packaging is simple transparent plastic bottle with flip open cap & a nozzle dispenser. The bottle is rightly sized and it is extremely easy to carry around if you are travelling. The remover looks & feels water-like & contains no traces of oil at all. Since it is water consistency remover I generally end up taking more than required, hence a 125 ml bottle will be over pretty soon.

The remover works effectively on the eyes as well as the entire face. For eye makeup, a single swipe takes care of eyeshadows & liquid liners but for water proof mascaras & pigmented, lasting eye pencils it requires a few swipes before completely getting the makeup off. Having said that, it is does not feel harsh or tug sensitive skin near the eye area even though it requires a few swipes. It is easy on sensitive eyes, no stinging or watery eyes at all. For kohl on the lower lashline, I use a Q tip dipped in remover & no stinging at all! The remover though is oil –free I cannot skip the cleansing part, call it a force of habit that I wash my face thoroughly. One thing that I am not convinced about is that it contains SLS, which is quite strange.

In the pic below, I am wearing Faces Long Wear Pencil in Navy Blue as liner & Lakme Eyeconic Kajal on my waterline. Both the products & super pigmented and requires task to get completely off. I swiped the cotton pad twice on the lids & the makeup came off completely.

Pros:

  1. Sturdy bottle – travel safe
  2. Oil free formula
  3. Light on eyes
  4. No stinging or tugging the eyes
  5. Easy to use
  6. Non-greasy
  7. Does not breakout the skin
  8. Pocket friendly

Cons:

  1. Will not last longer due to water like consistency
  2. Contains SLS
  3. Availability – Currently available only in select stores & online only
Final Verdict:
If you like oil-free makeup removers then you should give Rimmel London Gentle Eye Make Up Remover a try and it will not disappoint you in terms of effectiveness. Only hitch is it contains SLS, which might not be liked by many including me.
