My Take on Maybelline Color Show Lipstick ‘Orange Icon’:
Being a new launch from Maybelline and seeing all the hype about these affordable lipsticks by the fellow bloggers, I picked this color ‘orange icon’ last month. Let’s see how well it faired.
Shade: Orange Icon as the name suggests is a medium toned orange color. If lightly applied the color appears more coral with sight hints of pink but swiping it 3-4 times reveal a true orange on my lips. This color is quite easy to wear as it is not very intense and bright and would surely suit most skin tones.
Texture: The lipstick has light to medium pigmentation and a good 3 -4 swipes are needed to make the actual color show on the lips. It leaves a pretty glossy shine on the lips thus eliminating the use of a gloss later. The lipstick is very moisturizing and I hardly find the need to apply a balm on my dry lips prior/later. The shade goes on smoothly on to the lips.
The lipstick tends to settle in fine lines so better exfoliate the lips beforehand else it may accentuate the chapped lips. It transfers easily.
Staying Power: Orange Icon stays on for 2-3 hours on me with a meal in between and fades away evenly. It does leave a light orange tint on the lips once the glossiness fades which looks pretty too.
Packaging: The glossy black plastic case looks ok and the bullet resides quite firmly inside. I haven’t seen any melting or breakage of the lipstick bullet as yet. I do find nothing unique about this packaging but its sturdy for sure.
- A good medium toned orange color for those who are scared of bright orange shades.
- Easily flattering color
- Decent staying power.
- Sturdy packaging.
- Pigmentation could have been better
- It may accentuate chapped lips so exfoliate before.
Final Word: I am a fan of orange shades in lipsticks and this is yet another pretty orange and definitely a very wearable one. I like its moisturizing texture too. I do recommend everyone to try this range out.
