MAC Select Cover Up Concealer Review

MAC Select Cover Up Concealer Review

Here is a review on my favorite concealer from MAC. To be honest, I have tried many concealers from MAC but this has given me 100% satisfaction. Read on to know why.

What the brand claims:
Liquid camouflage for the skin. Texture-free, virtually invisible. Comes in a tube. Blends in. Brightens and lightens dark areas, erases spots, evens-out skin tones. Makes skin flaw-free. Use pre-foundation, or on its own. Liquid camouflage for the skin. Texture-free, virtually invisible. Comes in a tube. Blends in. Price:Rs.1350
Quantity:10ml

Packaging:
It comes in a very cute travel friendly tube packaging. It has a tiny nozzle and a cap.It is easy to get the right amount of product so no wastage.I take just a tiny drop to cover under eyes as well as over the lids.

The shade that was suggested to me was NC43. Iam NC 42 in MAC foundations. The Makeup Artist suggested that a concealer should usually be one shade darker than the foundation shade. However, this may vary according to the need.

Pros:
1.Travel friendly packaging
2.Effectively covers dark circles,acne scars
3.Does not crease under the eyes
4.Staying power is good
5.Very pigmented so a little quantity is enough
6.Available in many shades
7.Perfect for oily skin

Cons:
It has to be blended quickly as it dries soon after application. But that is the reason for the long staying power.

My Experience:
I have had my ups and downs with MAC concealers. I was never able to find my right shade. I first tried MAC studio finish in NW 35 that was suggested to me. Somehow, I felt that it was too pink under my eyes, it was thick and gave a fake look. Then I tried Prolongwear which which was great but has very few shades so finding a match was again difficult. I was desperate for a good concealer which would work for both under eyes as well as acne scars. A MAC MUA understood my concerns and tried a few shades and said NC 43 is my concealer shade. She was very confident and I liked the way she explained the different types of concealers MAC makes. From what I learnt, here are the details

1.MAC Studio Finish-dry skin
2.MAC Select cover Up-oily skin
3.MAC Prolongwear-combination/oily skin and long wearing

This concealer gives me full coverage underthe eyes. I do not have very dark circles but the under eye area looks tired and dark than the rest of the face. This does not crease even after an entire day. It dries quickly so you have to blend it out fast. It is a liquid concealer and I use MAC 217 brush to apply and blend it. It does not make the under eye area oily and gives a matte finish which I love. It does not give that fake whitish look under the eyes and stays whole day.

My Rating:5/5
Final words: I highly recommend this beauty to those who are looking for a good concealer for under eyes as well as acne scars. This is pretty expensive but one tube would last you 2 years so go ahead.
