MAC Makeup Artists have always been kind and sweet to me till date and I have made some really good friends at MAC. A makeup artist in Mumbai and I share the same skintone and whatever she has chosen for me till now, have become winners for me. One such product is the satin lipstick Retro.
Satin is my favorite finishes as it looks rich and is highly pigmented enough to cover any lip darkness. It is neither dry, nor glossy, just perfect.
Rs 1190 for 3 grams.
Simple black packaging with the shade name on one end.
Retro is described as a peachy brown with red undertones. It is a pretty dark shade for fair-medium skin tones. However, dusky beauties can use it as a daily wear shade. The pigmentation is superb and the texture is smooth and non-drying. It stays put for 2-3 hours easily and may require re-application after food or drinks.
If you are above NC42 in MAC, do give Retro a try. I am sure you will fall in love. It is quite a unique shade, a mix of peach, red and brown. If you have heavily pigmented lips, it might turn out darker. However on my slightly pigmented lips, it looks more of a brown with a hint of red.
I like to pair it with light peach blushes like MAC Peaches or Melba and subtle eyemakeup.
If you like wearing dark shades, I would say go for it. However not a must have if you have a medium complexion. It might make you look pale if you are below NC40.
1. Unique shade
2. Smooth texture
3. Great staying power
4. Awesome pigmentation
3. Might not suit fair skintones
Retro is a lovely peachy brown with a hint of red. Highly pigmented, non-drying and stays put for 2-3 hours and fades evenly. It could be YOUR shade depending on your skintone and likes. For me, it is a shade that I would prefer wearing during daytime with subtle eyemakeup.
