My Views on Retro matte ‘All Fired Up’:

Hi everyone here on IBJ. Today I am reviewing my newly found love from MAC which is the lipstick ‘All Fired Up’. Though I was a bit apprehensive about the shade being similar to the other fuchsia/red in my lipstick stash, but now this is 1 color that I love wearing most of the times coz it is bold and extremely beautiful (more in real than in pics ;)).

Shade: All Fired Up is a bright, warm toned red pink. Though it may appear redder in the bullet still its pinky undertone is far prettier. I find the color really unique as it neither looks like the usual fuchsia nor like a red you may own. The shade looks luxurious and the matte texture makes it look really polished. This shade would easily suit all skin tones.

Texture: Being a retro-matte, this lipstick is definitely drying than the other normal matte lipsticks from MAC. The lipstick won’t apply smoothly and you may feel a bit of tugging on the lips. I mostly prefer applying a thin layer of a clear lip balm underneath to make the application smoother.

Though it is highly pigmented still 2-3 swipes are required to get the bold color evenly on the lips. The shade can be applied as a stain too by swiping once topped with a clear balm/gloss as one may prefer. In both ways, the shade suits my skin tone beautifully and instantly brightens up my face. Prefer light eye makeup or lighter colored eye shadows with this shade and this shade would definitely fetch you compliments for sure.

The lipstick doesn’t transfer much and won’t bleed. But this does accentuate the problem areas of the lips, feels drying at the end of the day and so proper exfoliation and lip care is needed later.

Staying power: The lipstick stays on for 4-5 hours on me with light meals. Though a nice pink stain is left on the lips after a full heavy meal, still you may require a touch-up later.

Packaging: The lipstick comes in the usual matte black mac packaging which is sturdy.

Pros:

  • Gorgeous red pink shade.
  • Flattering on all skin tones
  • Gives a polished matte finish
  • Highly pigmented.
  • Does not transfer much
  • Good staying power.

Cons:

  • Drying texture.
  • The application is not very smooth. A lip balm underneath would definitely help.
  • Shade accentuates the problematic areas of the lips. Exfoliation and lip balm provide needed help.
  • Availability is an issue. Though it is a part of the permanent line, still it’s mostly OOS everywhere.

Final Word: Though the drying nature is the only issue I find with this lipstick, still I am head over heels in love with this color. It has always fetched me compliments and I just adore the boldness of this shade. A must Have and Highly Recommended shade from MAC.
