Kiehl’s Lip Balm SPF 15 Hue No.30G Review

Hey Friends,

How is week coming along for all of you? Mine is a bit slow and dull. I think am not yet satisfied with my shopping. Anyways, here is my review on very first Kiehl’s product. Yes, I see myself drawn towards more skincare products these days. Good for me as well as for you. The product am talking to you about is the Kiehl’s Lip Balm SPF15 Hue No.30G.

I did a lot of research and even with my personal experience, can vouch for the fact that lip pigmentation occurs mainly due to sun exposure. For some people like me, the skin on the lips are very thin and sensitive so they get easily tanned and damaged due to sun exposure. I grew up in a hot and humid city like Chennai so there is no way you can escape from the sun. Had I known about these products earlier, I would have saved my lips.:(.

I went to Kiehl’s to get the much raved Lip Balm 1#  but found that they had so many other versions. I got a chance to try each one of them and finally picked this. The first thing that attracted me towards this lip balm was the SPF 15. This is a slightly tinted lip balm. Now, I guess everyone in IBJ knows that am no fan of lip balms, but I simply wanted this to save my lips from further damage.

Price: Rs.600
Packaging: Simple white colored tiny tube. It contains quite a lot of product and one tube really lasts a long time. Very cute and travel friendly.
Texture: It is a light weight lip balm, more like a gel that spreads easily. It is non-sticky and I love that.
Color: It is a light red colored lip balm. If you have clear lips, the red tint shows up. On my pigmented lips, it does not. However, no complaints as I did not get it for the tint but because the tinted ones had better fragrance than the non-tinted ones.

So how does it help? I use it in the morning just before I step out. Since it has SP15 ( I mean real SPF 15. There are alot of products claiming to have SPF but I don’t think they really work). This one definitely prevents lip darkening due to sun exposure. It can be used to smoothen lips before applying lipstick. It does take care of the dryness, chapping, peeling very well. Thus, it can be used both in the summer as well as in the winter. It can also be topped off above a lipstick to add that extra oomph to your lips. Since the tint is very light, it does not alter the lipstick shade.

Pros:
1. Heals dry lips
2. Prevents lip pigmentation ( I said prevents, does not cure lip pigmentation)
3. Can be used as a daily lip gloss
4. Non-sticky
5. Travel Friendly

Cons:
1. Expensive
2. Not easily available

Rating: 4.5/5
Final Words: This is a must have for those who travel alot and are under sun exposure. A lip sunscreen is very important. Expensive, but worth it.
