Hi everyone…I am going to review Himalaya Herbals Natural Moisturizing Lip Butter. I picked this up around two months back because I was very much impressed with their ‘all-natural’ claims.
Their website says:
A luxurious blend of exotic butters for soft, supple lips. Enriched with creamy Cocoa Butter and Sal Butter that soothe and hydrate the lips.
The packaging says that the key ingredients are cocoa butter, sal butter, kokum butter and mango butter. There are no chemicals included in this. The pack explicitly mentions that it is free from preservatives, petroleum, silicones and artificial colours. After reading articles about harmful chemical ingredients being included in makeup and skincare products, I am careful about what I use and I make sure to read the list of ingredients. This is the main reason why this product bowled me over.
The price is Rs.125 and we get 10 grams of the product…quite a lot. It has to be used up within one year.
It is packaged in a small tub with a green lid. There is another white lid which acts as a shield for the product inside.
The lip butter itself is thick, soft and colourless. Its fragrance is really good…in fact my mother once commented that it smells like some foodstuff or chocolate. It does not feel weightless on the lips, because it is so thick. A little bit is enough to moisturise the lips really well. My lips have a tendency to become dry quickly and I feel that this product really works on them. I apply it at night before sleeping and the next morning, I can see the dry skin flaking off when I rub my lips gently with a damp towel or even with a wet finger. I also feel that the effect of the butter is long lasting in the sense that the moisturised feeling continues even after I have removed the product and not just for as long as I had it on my lips. I think using this once or twice a day is enough to keep the lips well hydrated.
I have also used this lip butter to make a lip scrub. I simply add a bit of sugar, and a bit of cocoa powder to add to the yumminess factor, and scrub my lips with it. I’ve even tried using it as a cuticle butter.
The cons of this product – The packaging…it comes in a tub, so there is the problem of hygiene. I make sure to wash my hands before using my fingers to take it out. I also read somewhere that the reason it can be preservative-free without going bad is that it does not contain water. So I am extra careful to see that my finger is dry before I use it. It also does not have any SPF…so I don’t normally use this during the daytime.
I would rate this product a 4.5 on 5 and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
