Fenugreek Does Wonders To The Skin And Hair

Hey Everyone,

I am here to share some skincare secrets that I have learned from my grandma. Well, to be honest, I was always blessed with good skin and hair. But work stress, traveling and sun exposure took a toll on my skin in my late 20s and I had to use many products to take care.
One of the most effective ingredients in our home is Fenugreek (Methi in Hindi, Vendhayam in Tamil) . I am sure most of us use Fenugreek in our foods, but I am sharing some tips on how I use it. These are very simple steps that can be followed easily to get awesome results.

For the skin

Soak 1 full spoon of fenugreek seeds in two spoons of water overnight. Chew and swallow the soaked seeds the next morning and drink the remaining water. It definitely helps in reducing pimples, cleanses the skin from within and gives glowing skin if followed everyday. Did I tell you that it also reduces hairfall?

For Hair:

Soak 5-6 spoons of fenugreek seeds in half a mug of water, overnight. Grind the seeds along with the water, adding some curd the next morning and apply on the hair shaft. Wash it off after half an hour to get smooth, silky and shiny hair. Also apply the paste to the scalp if you have dandruff. This method can be followed once every week.

Foods:
I often include Fenugreek leaves while making rotis, parathas and even dosas. Just chop them into fine tiny pieces like how you would work with coriander and mix them in your dosa/chapati dough. I also prepare daal with Fenugreek.

Fenugreek helps reduce the body heat and also helps in digestion so it shows in your skin too. I also have sprouted fenugreek sometimes. It tastes very bitter but is easy to chew since it gets soaked very well for 1-2 days. I am very fond of sprouts. You can also store the sprouted ones in the fridge and have as an evening snack.

Do try it out and let me know how it works for you. So how do use fenugreek for skin and haircare? Do share your tips as well.
