My take on the Bourjois Happy Light Foundation:
Having heard quite rave reviews about the Bourjois foundations, I was pretty sure to pick one this or next month. Still not decided on which one to try, I found a friend of mine selling this newly launched ‘Happy Light’ foundation online as the shade didn’t suit her. Checking the swatches, I was pretty sure that #54 Beige would suit me nicely and so I bought it from her without second thoughts. And I am so happy I did pick this as I love this foundation right now.
Packaging: Bourjois Happy Light foundation comes in a transparent glass bottle with a plastic pump dispenser that is covered with another cap. The pump dispenser is quite good and works effectively. Overall the glass pack with the orange pump looks cute. Packaging is surely leakage proof but be a little careful while handling the glass bottle.
Shade: The shade Beige #54 would suit fair to medium (NC-37 to 40) skin tone with yellow undertones very well. In the beginning I thought maybe the shade is a bit darker for me but after applying it suited me to perfection.
Texture: The brand claims that this foundation provides ‘Luminous and flawless complexion in any light’. I must say both the claims are quite met out by this foundation. It instantly brightens the skin by adding a radiant glow.
It has the lightest, almost gel like texture that blends into the skin effortlessly. It feels feather light on the skin (almost like applied nothing at all) and yet it provides moderate/medium coverage.
In terms of coverage it evens out the skin tone and instantly hides redness/pigmentation but you will need a concealer for hiding the under eye circles and acne marks or other spots. You can build the foundation formula up by re-applying for a more full coverage effect without caking it up. It definitely makes the skin glow without giving the oily feel.
I think the formula is perfect for normal to dry skin. Oily skinned may find a need of a touch up of their compact after 3-4 hours of application.
Staying power: It stays on for more than 8 hours easily in a non AC environment too. I did not see any oiliness even after 4-5 hours. There had been no bad effects on my skin after using this. Well, the super light texture would suit everyone for sure.
Gel like light texture.
Blends in effortlessly
Instantly hides all the pigmentation/redness from the skin.
Definitely adds a nice glow
Stays on for quite long.
Doesn’t cake up even on a second application.
Does not melt in the sun or when comes in contact with water.
Photographs really well.
Comes in a cute packaging
Need of a concealer is not eliminated as it provides medium coverage
I am not sure whether it has been launched here in India as yet so availability may be an issue.
Be careful while handling the glass packaging.
Final Word: I love it. It provides the most natural look to my face and feels hydrating too. The finish is not completely matte, rather the slight dewy look would work fantastically well for the approaching winters. Definitely recommended.
