The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner Review

Guest Post By Monica

Being an oily skinned girl, I always knew that a toner should me an essential part of my skin care regime but still I did not use one for quite long. Reason? All the toners that I tried, ranging from Aroma Magic to Neutrogena to VLCC etc. did not suit me. Some broke me out while some made my skin very stretchy so I just dropped the idea of using a toner. In October, my sister who stays in Dubai visited us and she was using this Toner, I thought why not try this “free ka sample” and this is how I stumbled upon this Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner which has now become my HG Toner.

Product Description:

–          Refreshing Alcohol-free toner removes impurities and refines pores.

–          Removes the last traces of cleanser, make-up and impurities.

–          Primes skin for moisturizer.

–          Leaves skin feeling refreshed.

Water, PEG-40 Hydrogenated castor oil, Trideceth-9, Phynoxyethanol, Algae Extract, Glycerin, Methylparaben, Parfum, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Menthol, Cucumis Sativus Fruit Extract, Propylparaben, Fucus Vesiculosus Extract, Linalool, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Salicylate, Benzyl Alcohol, Potassium Sorbate, Tocopherol.

The toner comes in a transparent plastic bottle with blue label on it and a flip top cap. There is nothing fancy about the packaging. The cap is quite sturdy thus bottle can be carried around without any chance of leakage.

My Experience:

I have oily skin prone not to pimples/acne but whiteheads around nose and chin. It’s been 3 months I have been using this toner and I can very well say that it works.

Initially I used to take lot of toner, like 7-8 drops on a cotton ball and sweep onto the face, this made the face a bit sticky and oily then after using 4-5 times I realized that less is more with this toner and now I use 2-3 drops of this on cotton ball every morning and night after cleansing the face. It definitely deep cleanses the pores and gives a shine free face. It does not give me that stretchy feel as some alcohol based toners did and nor did it break me out.

The best part: I have noticed a reduction on the open pores around my nose and also the number of whiteheads on my chin have reduced drastically. Let me tell you these whiteheads are so stubborn that they don’t come out even with the extracting tool while getting facials. And now they have reduced almost like 50%. Am soooooo loving this toner.

The 200 ml bottle is going to easily last 5-6 months as in 3 months I have used like just more than half.

Summing up,

Pros of Body Shop Seaweed Toner:

  1. Alcohol free toner.
  2. Did not break me out.
  3. No dry stretchy feel after using it.
  4. Reduces pore size.
  5. Reduces whiteheads.
  6. Gives good oil control.
  7. Deep cleanses the pores.

Cons of Body Shop Seaweed Toner:

  1. Full of parabens.
  2. pricey.

Ratings: 4.5/5

Overall Verdict: This toner is highly recommended to oily/combination skin girls facing oily skin issues (pores, whiteheads, pimples etc.). Trust me girls, you are going to love it. Am toh definitely going to repurchase it throughout my life (okay okay, till I find a better substitute).

Till then take care beauties and have a great, healthy and wealthy 2014. Love you all!
