My take on the Avon speed dry + nail enamel:
Avon launched yet again some pretty colors of nail paints in its Speed dry+ range a couple of months back. The quick dry formula together with some lovely shades made me grab a few of these which I am reviewing today for you all.
Texture: The nail paints really dry up pretty quickly as the brand promises. Applying a thin single coat and by the time you get back to the first nail, to add a second coat, the first layer of polish was dry to the touch. Even with two coats, this polish dries pretty quickly which is really impressive.
The formula is pretty fantastic in terms of coverage and ease of application, two thin coats was all it took for opacity of the darker shades like ‘Strawberry’ and ‘Fast time Teal’. However, I applied 3 coats of ‘Crystal calm’ to get the desired color. The finish is indeed high shine and looks so glossy.
Shades: I bought 2 bright shades (Strawberry & Fast time Teal) and a pretty toned down neutral color (Crystal calm). All these 3 colors apply quite true to their names.
Strawberry is a beautiful fuchsia pink color. It looks bold and super bright on the hands. It has absolutely no shimmers and finishing is glossy. 2 coats are enough for the right color to be made visible.
Fast time Teal is a gorgeous teal color and is my favourite out of the three. I just love this shade on my hands. It doesn’t appear too bright or looks unattractive on the hands at all. You would love to apply this shade for sure. Again 2 coats is enough for the color to pop out.
Crystal Calm as the name suggests is a much toned down natural color for the nails. It has a frosty finish to it and is not matte like the other 2 nail paints. The color would suit more nicely on fair to medium skin tones.
Staying power: All these shades stay on for 3-4 days on my nails without a base or top coat. I have not seen them chipping. They just start fading away slightly from the tips on the 2nd day itself still I prefer remove them after the 4th day. Staying power could definitely improve using a base/top coat.
Packaging: The glass bottles need to be handled carefully. The applicator brushes are just ok and do the job nicely. No streaks appeared while applying them even on a 2nd coat.
Pros:
  • Great shades and a nice pastel colors available too.
  • Affordable. Can be grabbed on offers.
  • Bright shades are nicely pigmented.
  • Glossy and shiny finish.
  • Dries pretty quickly.
  • Brush applicators provided are good.
Cons:
  • Staying power could have been better.
  • The lighter shades require 3 coats easily for the right color to show up.
  • Starts fading from the tips from the 2nd day itself without a base/top coat.
Ratings:
4.25/5 for Strawberry and Teal.
3.75/5 for crystal calm.
Final Verdict: I love the shades a lot and surely few more colors tempt me from this range. At this price, they are worth trying.
